Subject: Bell I purchased a Goebel bell at a flea market and cannot find any information on it. It has a case that says Goebel Limited Edition crystal bell Noel 1978, on the inside of the case it says handcut full lead crystal, Goebel Hummel Werk, on the bell handle it says 2,549 of 10,000. On the bell it has what looks like children singing and also says Noel 1978. If you have any information on this piece please let me know. Ravein1001@aol.com Goebel has produced some crystal pieces, but I did not see anything listed in regards to bells. The books do not list any secondary market activity on the crystal pieces, so I do not know how much your bell is worth. I have a set of 12 Norman Rockwell bells entitled "The Wonderful World of Norman Rockwell". They were made in West Germany. They were released by the Danbury Mint and are dated 1979. I would like to know their value and the best place(s) to advertise them for sale. Thanks for your help. wwm@waveone.net The Danbury Mint is not a member of the Collectors' Information Bureau, therefore, I do not know their secondary market value. We recommend selling any collectible item in the sell section of this web site. The classifieds are FREE! update: The bells have a secondary market price of $30.00 each. ( Price Guide to Limited Edition Collectibles by Collectors Mart Magazine.) Subject: Bradford Exchange Plates I have just inherited a large group of plates. How do I determine their worth and sell them? Resiroof@ix.netcom.com You could always take out a classified ad in onlinecollectibles.com (editor's choice for buying and selling collectibles) Visit the Bradford Exchange * Visit Our Online Price Guide Subject: Capodimonte Bowl I have a glazed porcelain bowl that belonged to my mother. On the bottom in gold is written Capodimonte Italy 716. It is a short bowl with cherubs and a lot of gold detail. My mother had it for years. Is it worth anything? In the current catalog I have seen a "short bowl with cherubs" (now called a centerpiece a-hem) for $550.00. If you would like to view the bowl, please visit http://www.emilysgifts.com/armani8.htm You can make a comparison - if your bowl is similar, larger, smaller, more ornate or less and can be relatively close in your guesstimate as to the value of your bowl. Subject: Capodimonte Lamps I have come across two beautiful "Capodimonte" lamps. My problem is that the lamps say Italy in gold paint, but, there is no signature or stamp (that I can see). On the bottom there is a sticker with the Capodimonte emblem but that could have easily been placed there. The lamps are of Capodimonte style, they are tall, black, gold and white in color. There are oval scenes on each side of each lamp. On one side the scene is of three cherubs holding a wreath/garland (cameo style). On the other side is a scene of a woman sitting with a man bent over kissing her hand (cameo style). There are 4 cameo's of a mans head around the base of the lamp. Any idea if this is a true Capodimonte or of its value? HAGENBDT@aol.com Though I do not know the value of your lamps, it does sound like they are true Capodimonte lamps. The Capodimonte marking is a blue "N" and crown. The term Capodimonte was originally a fine porcelain produced at a "castle on the mountain" overlooking Naples, the term currently describes a highly ornate style rather than an actual product. Frequently features flowers, fruits and courtly or native figures. Subject: Capodimonte vase I would like to have information on the age and value of a Capodimonte vase I purchased. This vase is approximately 14" high, is about 8" across the top and narrows to a pedestal and then flares out at the bottom. It has two handles at the narrow end right before the pedestal. The upper part of the vase is covered with human figures and I'm not sure if they are cherubs or half man half beast. There are trees, buildings, plants and the bottom has what looks like angel heads with wings. The trademark is a crown with the R. Capodimonte underneath plus the initials G on one side of the crown and B on the other. There is also Italy and 1535/371 in gold. Thank you for your help. rowiep@aol.com Is this a vase or is the top shaped more like a bowl? There are no vases in my current Armani catalog to compare prices, but there are decorative bowls on pedestals similar to your description, but definitely cherubs, not man and beast. If the vase is full color - meaning brilliantly luminous, full-color finish as opposed to the use of one color which allows the flesh tones of the figurine's exposed skin to be dominant, then I would think that your vase could be worth a minimum of $550.00. However, this is sight unseen and I could be picturing your vase entirely wrong - Are the cherubs painted on or are they actually figurines that are dimensional? My "ball park estimate" is for actual figures and not just painted on figures. I have scanned some of the decorative bowls onto my web site so that you can compare the look and the prices. You may view the bowls at http://www.emilysgifts.com/armani3.htm Subject: Capodimonte Water Fountain I recently bought was I was told was a Capodimonte water fountain. There are 2 dolphins, and only one has a waterspout. It sits inside a ceramic/porcelain piece shell that is on top of a pedestal. My question is, I have never heard of a water fountain made by Capodimonte, but I hear the name and I jump. I see the N with the Crown on the pedestal, but no where else. How can I actually know if the item is truly a capodimonte? Is there any distinguishing marks to indicate an authentic capodimonte? Thank you for your help! batin@usa.net Your fountain does have the markings of Capodimonte - Blue N and crown. I do not see any fountains in my current book so I cannot give you an estimate of its value at this time. Remember, Capodimonte is a term that describes a style rather than a product. Sometimes there are numbers or edition numbers in the mold itself which could give more information. Subject: Capomunte I have 2 lamps - vaselike - in the capodimonte style. They are handed signed "CAPOMUNTE" 6212/ITALY. There is no trademark blue N/with crown. Do you know of capomunte and do you know what their value might be? SHEWOLF2@prodigy.net I have no information on Capomunte. |
Subject: Copperware
We've been holding on to a collection of about 25-30 pieces of enameled copperware. These pieces range in size from about 3" diameter to 12", including coasters, bowls, ashtrays, and chargers. Some have designs in stained glass that have been fired during the enamelling process. Have been told the origin of these is California in the 1960's and 1970's. Some are unmarked pieces, and others have labels or engravings from Jade Snow Wong (including ceramic pieces), Maddux of CA, Calimage of CA, BUCK, Jules Perrier/Canada, Maggie Howe, Nikrassoff, PAT, R.L. Whyte, Farberware, R, and California Cloisonne' by Landau & Associates. Would appreciate any information to help us estimate their values.
Please contact Mary Frank Gaston author of "Antique Brass and Copper". The book has many full-color photos and current market values. Her address is Box 342, Bryan, TX 77806.
Subject: Decanters
We have inherited a set of four, Decanters - Jim Beam Corvettes unopened, boxed, with dates of 1978 on the boxes. Are items like this considered "collectible"?
I would think so, Wheel Series, Corvette 1978, yellow, red or white $75.00 each.
Subject: Dolfi
I am just interested in what is meant by the name Dolfi. I thought it would be fun to look up my last name and I found it in collectibles.
Dolfi is a manufacturing company located in Italy. They make figurines and are especially noted for their line of Lisi Martin (the name of the artist) and nativity figurines.
Subject: Emmett Kelly
I am helping a friend try to locate an Emmett Kelly Sr. game board in good but not necessarily mint condition. Any idea where to go for this? kmcmurr@entergy.com
Subject: Gnomes
Are you familiar with the Tom Clark piece, "Henson"? The character is reading a book to Kermit, the frog, who has an acorn cap for a hat on his head. The book has the following words written in it: "Once upon a time there was a prince named Kermit" They are sitting on leaves and acorns. I believe this was retired in 1983?? What is the value of such a piece? The certificate of authenticity is in mint condition, as is the piece, and the number on the piece is 69 and the number on the sticker on the underside is 1059.
I recently saw four Henson's listed in the Blue Ridge Collectible Exchange. The prices ranged from $49 to $55.
Subject: Gnomes
My wife and I have a MR. LINCOLN and THOMAS JEFFERSON GNOME. As you know these are the largest ones he has done and we have no where to display them. Do you know what the book price on those are now?
Lincoln and Jefferson are currently listed in the Blue Ridge Collectible Exchange for $600 - $675 each.
Subject: 1980 Goebel Plate
I need all the help I can get. I have a 1980 Goebel plate, Third edition, "TRADITIONS" by Laszlo Ispanky #742 of 10,000. The # at the bottom says 52-727-03-9. Could you please advise me of it's value.
The only plate that I see that could be the plate you are referring to is: Old Testament Series, "Tradition" Limited Edition of 10,000 - issued in 1980 by Goebel. The current quote is $225.00. The first plate in the series is "Twelve Tribes of Israel" and the second is "Ten Commandments.
Subject: Hamilton Plates
Recently our family lost both my Mother and Grandmother. While going through my Grandmother's things we discovered a box with I believe to be 14 or so plates. The plates were wrapped and are in mint condition. The puzzling part is getting info on the plates. I know 12 of the plates are from the Japanese calendar collection. Could you give me any info as to where I can find out the value and history of these plates. Finding info on a Hamilton plate is hard. I called the Co. they gave me a # to call. Called the number left message no response. Been to the Library no help. Any info would be appreciated. ThankYou,
Re: Japanese Floral Calendar
The Hamilton Plates you inquired about were produced from 1981 through 1983. There were 12 plates in the series and they issued for $32.50 apiece. The series was limited to 10 production days per plate. There has been little, if any, activity on the secondary market and the current value is their original retail price.
Subject: Hamilton Plates
I would like to know the secondary market value for the Small Wonders of the World Collection (8).
I do not see this series listed. There is a series called Small Wonders of the Wild. If that is what you are talking about, the value is its issue price. $29.50 per plate.
Looking for info on Hummel tiles....My mother recently passed away and left me her entire estate. I am trying to find some information on the value of the following: 6" Handpainted Hummel tiles. They’ve never been used or installed, have been packed in tissue paper since 1938 and are in new, excellent, condition. They were purchased from Ray Campbell (I have his address & phone number when my mother purchased these from him, I think she purchased these over 20 years ago), who was a Major in the Army stationed in Germany at that time. He was a friend of the Goebel Family. There were 2 sets of tiles specially made for him, he has the other set. This is a set of six tiles. There is a different scene on each one: 1. A girl with a basket of apples wearing a scarf has one braid. 2. A girl with a basket of flowers holding an envelope with 2 braids & wearing a hat. 3. A girl with a knapsack & basket of knitting, has 2 braids no head gear. 4. A boy blowing a horn holding a lantern & a flag with a church in background. 5. A boy whistling holding a closed umbrella and a carpet bag. 6. A boy playing a violin with an umbrella strapped over his back wearing a hat. Would you be able to give me an idea of the value, or who I could contact to obtain this information. I can send pictures of these tiles if necessary.
There is no information in the books about Hummel tiles. Based on the information you gave, they are probably so rare that no one knows about them. You should consider contacting an expert on Hummels. One such person would be Carl F. Luckey, author of the book, Luckey's Hummel Figurines & Plates. His address is Route 4, Box 301, Killen, AL 35645. Only write to him - no phone calls! You should send him photographs of your tiles. The following figurines could be based on the same art work: #1 HUM 112 "Just Resting ", #2 HUM 13 "Meditation", #3 HUM 81 "School Girl", #4 HUM 15 "Hear Ye Hear Ye", #5 HUM 7 " Merry Wanderer", #6 HUM 2 "Little Fiddler". (This is just a guess)
Subject: Hummel - Holy Water Font
I can't seem to identify a Hummel item that I recently purchased at an estate sale. I have become familiar with many of the markings, but this one is different. All the Hummels I purchased at this sale are holy water fonts, and I've been able to identify all but this one. I assume this one is also a font. The markings include the blue ink stamp full bee in the solid V, next to it appears a blue ink stamp (R), on the rim is a black ink stamp "Germany", and impressed into the base is HW 60. The description is a praying, child angel, kneeling on the back rim of the fonts bowl. The angel is wearing an orange robe, has yellow hair, and pink wings. On the front of the bowl is a brown heart trimmed in orange dots, and with a cross in the middle. The bowl itself is trimmed in brown. This font unlike the others is freestanding and doesn't hang.
I have looked at all of the Hummel holy water fonts and do not see any with the markings you describe or any with any decorations on the font bowl. I do not think that this is a Hummel font.
Subject: Miscellaneous
Could you please help....I don't know where to start. I'm trying to get an estimated value on a few items: 1) Aunt Jemima Cookie Jar - in good condition however most of the paint is worn. 2) Jewel Tea Tea Pot. 3) Dynasty (the old tv show) Collector Plate. 4) Royal Dalton signed and numbered plates "Sleigh Bells" and "Chin Chee Imperial Palace". I would appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thank You
The only thing I can tell you is that Sleigh Bells issued in 1993 for $45.00 and has a secondary market quote of $45.00.
Please check your items to see if there are any identifying markings. The plate should have a manufacturer's name, date etc. Also, if the paint is worn off of the cookie jar, I am afraid that it would not have much value.
Subject: Music Box
I have two limited edition - full size Disney music boxes in perfect condition (Cinderella and Snow White). I am trying to find out what they are worth and how I can sell them. I think I can list them on this site, but I do not know how to price them. Do you have any suggestions on how I can find out what they are worth? When purchased they sold for $125 each!
11/23/1998 Re: Disney Classics - only the figurines are listed.
Subject: Music Box
I am trying to find someone to make a custom music box for me using an original song I wrote. If you know anyone who provides this service, please let me know. jmhester@ix.netcom.com
I too would like to find someone that makes custom music boxes. Please respond with any info you have. rwalker4@flash.net Thanks.
Subject: Nippon China
I have just acquired a vase that some one told me may be Nippon. It has no markings on it anywhere. The vase stands about 8-9" high, It stands on 4 little legs (Cobalt Blue) with gold lines . The bowl part of the vase is white going into a light yellow with pink scattered about it.. very rich in gold flowers. From the top of the bowl of the vase it goes into the cobalt blue again with gold painted on it. Has two scrolled handles in Cobalt blue with gold painted on them. Inside of the neck, Cobalt Blue going into white. If anyone has any info that could help me, I would appreciate it.
There are too many vase descriptions listed and without numbers and markings, I cannot pin-point the exact item sight unseen. Because there is not a number system available, an expert would either have to see the item or at least a picture of it. I recommend contacting Joan Van Patten, Box 102, Rexford, NY 12148. She is an author of Collector Books on Nippon. Ex. The Collector's Encyclopedia of Nippon Porcelain - there are four books in the series.
examples of similar (?) vases: Nippon Vase, florals & gold beading, handles, bottle neck 8 1/2 inches $325
Nippon Vase, gold overlay reserve & band on cobalt, small handles 8 1/2 inches $650
Subject: Ornaments
Could you help me I have 36 Christmas Hummel tree ornaments purchased I beleive from the bradford exchange and was wondering are they worth anything. I bought them about 10years ago. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
I don't know of any Hummel ornaments that were distributed by the Bradford Exchange. They are not any listed in the book, however, they could be listed under Goebel or some other manufacturer. What did you pay for the ornaments? Are there any markings on the ornament or on the box, either the name of the ornament or manufacturer etc.
Subject: Steins
I have a customer who is looking for the endangered eagle stein from Anheuser-Busch.
Sorry to say that your customer and half the world is looking for the endangered eagle stein from Anheuser-Busch. Wish him Good Luck for me.
Subject: 1950's Music
My class reunion is coming up and I would like to know where I can buy 1950's music. Bob
You will not have a problem finding a cassette tape of 1950's songs. Just visit some of the Music Stores such as Harmony House. I have always been able to find 50's and 60's music cassettes there without a problem. I like to play the oldies channel on the radio in the store. My customers purchase more when the oldies are on....if I play light FM they hardly buy anything! Good Luck with your class reunion.
