I have a Hummel Wall Plaque called Flitting Butterfly. It is marked M I Hummel in lower right corner. Above signature is a large V with a stylized bee and a CIRCLE around the V. It has Western Germany written beside it and a #139 above the V. Can you give me any information on this? Are they being made any more? What does the Circle around the V/bee mean? Thanks.

I think you have the Full bee mark as that is the only mark referenced in an incised circle for Flitting Butterfly. The mark was used from 1957 - 1960. The plaque is 2 3/8" square. The Full Bee Mark is Trademark 2 and the current value is $85 - $100. If it is the stylized bee which you mention, the value is $70-$85.

The plaque was released circa 1940 and has not undergone any significant mold variation that would affect the normal value for the various trademarked pieces. The plaque was out of production for some time. It has been reissued in a new mold design with the same number - HUM139, but it currently is not shown in the M. I. Hummel catalog or price list from Goebel. We assume it is not available.
