Subject: Decanters I have 23 Nevada Brothel Decanters ranging in age from 1976 to 1985 made by Dug. Any idea how much they might be worth. I cannot find that they are made anymore. Some still have liquor in them. Ceramic whiskey decanters were brought into prominence in 1955 by the James Beam Distilling Company. Few other companies besides Beam produced these decanters during the next ten years or so, other companies did eventually follow suit. At its peak in 1975, at least twenty prominent companies and several on a lesser scale made these decanters. Beam stopped making decanters in mid 1992. Now only a few companies are producing these collectibles. Liquor dealers have told collectors for years that ceramic decanters are not as valuable if emptied or if the federal tax stamp has been broken. Nothing is further from the truth. Reasons why you should consider emptying ceramic decanters:
Decanters vary in size from miniatures (2 oz.) to gallons. Values range from a few dollars to more than $3000.00 per decanter. Unfortunately the DUG company or Nevada Brothel Decanters are not listed in the book, Schroeders Antiques Price Guide. An authority on Decanters is Mr. Roy Willis. You can visit his web site: Heartland of Kentucky Decanters and Steins Apparently he sells a price guide on Decanters for $8.50. Subject: Decanters We have inherited a set of four, Decanters - Jim Beam Corvettes unopened, boxed, with dates of 1978 on the boxes. Are items like this considered "collectible"? I would think so, Wheel Series, Corvette 1978, yellow, red or white $75.00 each. |
